Team Information.
Team numbers have been updated on the ELI Regional Schedule document. Please go to the second tab of the Google Sheet. Students must place their name, team name (i.e. ELI Team A), and team number on their wristbands the morning of the tournament. Students without wristbands will not be allowed to enter the event rooms.
Team home bases can be found here. At least one adult (18 years of age or older not currently attending your school) must be present in the home base area AT ALL TIMES for supervision. Please ensure that the areas are cleaned and returned back to normal at the end of the day. The team home bases will be checked periodically throughout the day. If an adult is not present upon inspection, a 25 point penalty will be assessed to the A Team of that school per occurrence.
Team Composition.
Each team may be comprised of 15 students from grades 9 through 12. Ninth grade students can only compete on either a B Division or C Division roster. Each team can have a maximum of 7 seniors to be confirmed by the building principal. These 15 students can compete in the 22 national Science Olympiad events at the regional competition.
In addition, the team may bring up to 7 alternate students to compete in the trial events ONLY. These students would have to be linked to a particular team (i.e. LIHS Team A). The alternates cannot compete in any national Science Olympiad events. If students on your regular roster wish to participate in the trial events, these students will be able to do so as well. Alternates will have different color wristbands to indicate that they will only be competing in the trial events. If any team is found exchanging wristbands between the regular and alternate students, the team will be imposed a 50 point penalty and will be disqualified from any events that the alternate participated in. The wristbands MUST be worn at all times; if a student somehow breaks their wristband, they must report to the Tournament HQ immediately with a team coach. Students will not be allowed to compete in events with tampered or missing wristbands. Each student must place their name, team name (with letter), and team number on their wristbands.
Your team registration forms for the day of the tournament can be found below. They must be submitted during morning registration.
